Liguria

The fashionable flowering Riviera

The Riviera is tremendously famous in Italy and all over the world for it flowers that its naturally considered the perfect extension of the French Riviera as if it would like to show that the fashionable glitters do not stop at the border. Here we find the beautiful little town of Bordighera, with its convenient location midway between Monte Carlo and Sanremo attracts incredible tourist masses all over the year for its long promenade with a medieval heart of the picturesque neighborhoods.

But already a few meters after another place will take your breath away: Balzi Rossi, a cave complex of great archaeological interest. The oldest traces of the caves are 350,000 years old, and derived from the very first people who lived here. The place is one of the focal points of research on Mediterranean Countries' history.

Inside the Riviera mountains reach heights of more than 1600 m and slopes are dotted by enchanting, small postcard villages. Pigna is definitely one of them. As if someone opened her hand and scattered sprinkles over a hilltop.

Throughout Liguria there is a trail called Alta Via dei Monti Liguri. The track is about 440 km long and stretches from the French border in Ventimiglia to Ceparana on the border with Tuscany. There are some amazing places along the trail where you can actually see clearly the island of Corsica.

Genoa is the provincial capital of Liguria and it Italy's largest port city and the fifth largest city for its population in Italy. One of the most interesting destinations to be visited, Genoa is now subject to a reassessment. Meandering, casual and quietly beautiful Genoa is on its way back.

From the South of Genoa begins one of Italy's most beautiful and romantic coastlines. Steep, dramatic and wild mountains meet the full spectrum of blue and green of the sea. The pastel-coloured city of Portofino is the first little gift of it. As a movie setting for VIP movies where yachts, sailboats and bright jewellery are always shown and shared between the reaches!

When you thought it could not be more beautiful, trust us it will! You just need to go on and stop by the Cinque Terre. Five ancient villages once completely isolated from the mainland, today reluctantly bound together by narrow roads.
